Not too shabby to Christy.

Lately, when I read mommy blogs, I feel not very good about my mommyness.

I don't make stuff and sell it in an etsy shop. I don't sew or smock. I don't turn pillow cases into dresses.

I don't make jam.

I don't have a theme for my kids for each week complete with a coordinating craft, snack, and story.

I don't make my own laundry detergent and I don't only use organic ingredients.

But. BUT. I have herbs. 10 points for me.
Heather gave me herbs for my birthday! (Subtract 3 points for me because I didn't grow them myself.)
BUT, I've kept them alive. (Add back 1 point.)
I cook with them all the time. (Add back another point.)
So, yay! 8 mommy points for me!

And 2,000 mommy points go to Heather for knowing me well enough to not hand me packs of herb seeds but for already planting them and babying them for me and then explaining how to keep them happy and healthy. (Plus she gets a whole bunch more mommy points for doing a lot of that mommy stuff I listed above.)

Christy- 8 total mommy points
Other Moms In the Universe- a bajillion mommy points

I don't care. I'm cool with just my kiddos and my herbs and my mommy friends who have lots of points that I can just borrow.

Gotta run. Some processed food is calling my name and I need to buy a b'day gift at a big store b/c I don't handmake stuff.

I Need to Fit Into a Bridesmaid Dress Chicken

I just posted the world's longest post yesterday. My husband read and I think he fell asleep halfway through.

I mentioned being sorry for not posting recipes lately. Here's one. And it's really healthy. Jennifer makes something very similar to it. But this recipe comes from my friend Kristi with a K. It's super yummy and if you're trying to fit into a bridesmaid dress, it will support you.

3-6 chicken breasts
32 oz. chunky salsa
1 can pineapple tidbits (drained)
1 can black beans (don't drain)- I used low sodium black beans

Dump it all in a crock pot and cook on low 6-8 hours. Serve over rice if you don't need to fit into a bridesmaid dress.

Catch Up

Those are not Reagan's teeth. It's a piece of bubblegum. A really large, white piece of gum that looks like crazy big bottom teeth.

Woohoo! Blogger decided to work today. I've been trying to post something for the past 3 days but blogger decided that was a terrible idea so it wouldn't let me. Blogger and I have a love/hate relationship.

A lot of people have given me mean looks and have sent me evil texts/emails/FB posts about my lack of posting to my blog. My bad. It's been a busy, busy, busy summer. Busy=Fun.

There's only been one bad part of my summer. Frogs. They're everywhere. (background information: I'm scared of frogs. Majorly scared. The kind of scared that gives me a cold sweat and makes me squeal and go to higher ground.) Last week I found 5 alive frogs in our neighborhood pool. Next to a dead mouse. And the mouse didn't creep me out but the alive frogs did. I wish I wasn't weird.

The 6-year-old cutie is growing more awesome by the day. He went to tennis camp a couple of weeks ago and on the first day I dropped him off and said something to the coach like "Landon's never played tennis before so I apologize for how terrible he will be" and when I went to pick him up after camp the coach said "He was the best one out here! Go buy that boy a racket!" So I learned a valuable lesson....don't ever expose my child to stuff anymore. Apparently he's way better at stuff he knows nothing about.

Other highlights from the six-year-old's summer:
He lost his first tooth two weeks ago and his second tooth yesterday.

He's at Phil Savitz soccer camp this week and loving every second of it.

He's getting baptized on July 31st!

The 4-year-old beauty is getting more random by the minute. Today at the opthamologist office, she told the doctor she really likes weapons, like ropes to tie people up. Awesome. Her eyes checked out great. Because of Landon's eye issues, the doctor wants to be pro-active with Reagan. But after today's visit, they don't feel as though she'll have any eye difficulties so we're stoked about that.

She is in dance camp this week and is having a ball!

She's taking gymnastics classes through the summer and is mastering the backward roll. Her biceps are huge.

The 1-year-old stud is getting more handsome by the second. How is that possible? His curls continue to impress everyone within a 100 mile radius.

He is kind of sort of a tiny bit maybe starting to talk. Sometimes he says "yes" and it sounds like "essssssssss". Sometimes he says "yuck" and it sounds like "ck" and he points to his diaper while he says it. And mostly he says "Eh" or squeals really REALLY loudly. The squeals are really on my nerves. They're so loud. People are starting to stare. But I can't decide if they're staring at him because of the piercing squeals or because of the handsomeness behind the squeal. I'm sure it's the latter.

He's obsessed with lollipops, milk, and that's about all. He used to eat everything in sight and now he eats like the 4-year-old....once every few days.

The 31-year-old continues to be the man. Work is going well. He's really, really busy and that's a blessing because lots of times his business is slooooow during the summer. He got an iPad2 for his birthday because my parents are extremely cool.

And this almost 32-year-old is loving summertime! I love having the 6-year-old home from school all summer. I love going to the beach with family. I love zucchini and squash and homemade peach ice cream.

Last week, I taught a creating writing class to 8 third and fourth grade girls each day from 1-4pm. Our time together was precious. To hear the hearts of these girls and help them write their stories on paper was such a blessing and so much fun. Many of the girls were former students so I loved reuniting with them and seeing how they've grown as writers.

I'm sorry I have not posted many recipes. I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding in October and I'm a billion years older than the other bridesmaids and so I'm mainly eating foods that don't make me happy. (except for the sweet potato/greek yogurt thing....that makes me very happy.)

That's all for now. :)
